BCHC has been an active member of both the Texas and the National Associations of Community Health Centers for many years. BCHC is a member of the Valley Primary Care Network (VPCN), the Rio Grande Valley Drug Council and Migrant Health Promotion. BCHC is also a member of the Equal Voice Network, an advocacy network created by the Marguerite Casey Foundation and the University of Texas Health Science Center-Houston: Brownsville Campus, Community Advisory Board.
BCHC is affiliated with local and state universities, serving as a rotation site for the medical students and residents from the University of Texas Medical Branch and the UT Regional Academic Health Centers. BCHC also serves as an internship site for students from many health and health-related professions schools at the two local universities: the University of Texas Brownsville and the University of Texas Pan American in Edinburg and as a rotation site for dental students from the UTHSC-SA Dental School.
BCHC also works with other agencies to promote positive changes in the health care and social service systems for families by serving as the health care partner on the local Domestic Violence Taskforce, the Coalition for Valley Families, the county and city homeless coalition, the Child Abuse Prevention task force, and the Texas Institute for Health Policy Research. BCHC is an organizational member of the National Alliance for Hispanic Health and the National Council of La Raza.
